Nicholas was born in 1962 in Bedfordshire, where
he received his education. He began drawing at an early age and was greatly
influenced by his father Roland Manning an artist and jazz musician,
who helped him refine his perspective and colour harmony skills.
Nicholas went on to win many awards for his paintings in his teenage
years before obtaining a degree in design and venturing into the
world of advertising and commercial illustration in London.
A milestone in Nick’s development came when he discovered the work
of world renowned wildlife artist Ray Harris Ching.
Nick recalls being completely bowled over by his oils, which he
described as mini masterpieces, where the subject matter seemed so
real that you could almost reach out and touch it.
Nick’s current methods can be identified technically by a
characteristic precision of draftmanship and subtle colour. Nick
undertakes private commissions, his work hangs in art
collections around the world and closer to home with the Royal
Family. He lives in Perthshire Scotland where he has a studio and
gallery. |
